Thu, September 13, 2007 - 9:42 PMThree and half years later - I saw the coyote yesterday at 9:30am running east from the hill, loping down Esmeralda St. and then making a left on Peralta! It ran right by me as I was riding my bike to work and I thought "beautiful dog" and then did a double take when I realized it had a huge fluffy tail and of course, no owner in sight. A woman driving her car and a guy waiting for the bus saw it too, and I imagine lots of folks in the neighborhood.
I hear they can travel up to 40 miles a day, but I didn't realize it left the park...maybe it was going out for a little snack, a tasty cat or teacup poodle perhaps? -

Sat, September 22, 2007 - 6:12 PMi saw the coyote about 1/2 hour ago, on franconia between mullen and montcalm.
it headed up toward montcalm, and then up toward whatever street is up that hill where the franconia steps continue. apparently there are some fliers around our part of town (i live on mullen/montcalm) but i haven't seen them.
the coyote looked fine, as fine as i could judge by being a half-block away and never having encountered a coyote before. cute cute cute. a little spooked by me, i think; it was headed in my direction and when it saw me coming, it turned and went back the other way.
