I'd like to know if anyone else has been going through the Bernal Heights planning commission to make additions to your house. We have been going back and forth for over a year, lost our contractor and have now completely lost contact with the commission (no returned phone calls or emails) for the last 2 months. We've particularly been stuck w/ the historical section over the past 7 months -- but our main planner assures me that much scrutiny is yet to come. Our plans are hardly ambitious, but do involve structural additions to the house.
Can you please share some of your experiences with the planning commission and any tricks you may have to get them to at least respond? Do I have any recourse? The historical person has told me in no uncertain terms that trying to overrule his decision will cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars. I've tried speaking to Tom Ammiano, but haven't been able to get him to return my emails either. It seems too trivial a case to bring forward to a newspaper or ombudsman.
Additionally, if any of you are currently having issues, perhaps we can come forward together?
Cheers.
