Best/Worst delivery

I was completely underwhelmed by my food from Jasmine Tea House last night. Everything tasted the same. The Kung Pao Meatless Chicken was not spicy at all, drenched in soy sauce, and had grody lil' unidentifiable things in it. The mu shu was a soggy mess. The other dish we got had large undercooked zuchini chunks.

I love Zante Pizza & Spicy Bite, but am I missing something? What other restaurants will deliver to Bernal that are worthwhile. Actually, what other ones should be avoided, while we're at it.

I've had very good experiences with Jasmine Tea House. They've been very quick and reliable for delivery, with excellent food. The only negative experience I ever had with them was that once, they made a mistake on my order, which I discovered after the delivery. I called them and they said they would send over the missing item (which I had paid for), but they never did.

Otherwise, I've had delivery from them dozens of times, and always have had a good experience.

I also like Dusit, though I've usually eaten at the restaurant, rather than getting delivery.

Shiso has way better meatless options than Jasmine Tea House. Better tasting, anyway, and less greasy.

Hmm, I would have to disagree that Shiso's vegetarian options are better than Shiso. Shiso is ok, but I was not that impressed. They don't have any "fake meat" like Jasmine either. It's difficult for any restaurant to top Jasmine's happy buddha.

That was the 2nd time I had Jasmine, and I wasn't very impressed the first time either. Maybe next time I eat there, I will try to dine in and see if it's any better.

YES, Angkor Borei...how could I forget them. I adore everything about that place.

Shiso has lots of meatless options on their menu. They've got a whole section with 11 meat-free choices called "Vegetable, Tofu & Meatless Chicken." They also do a mixed vegetarian & meatless chicken clay pot ($7.95) I should compare their Kumg Pao meatless chicken and see how it stacks up!

Oh, it looks like Shiso has made their menu more vegetarian friendly since I was there.

Now that I am looking at the Shiso menu, I am surprised myself...There are even more veggie options than I noticed before!

They have a "Shiso Special Vegetarian Salad" for $5.50, Portabella Mushroom with Meatless Chicken or Bean Cake chef special for $8.95, Monk's Delight (snow peas, bean curd, lotus root, baby corn and mushroom) for $7.95, veggie egg rolls, veggie pot stickers, veggie dumplings, and spinach tofu soup.

Does this place have any ambiance? I've never been inside.

I third Angor Borei been getting EXCELENT deliveries from them for many years.

"SAKE sushi" on mission delivers to Bernal. Good sushi and not too expensive.

Tim and I had delivery from Shiso last night.
Portabello mushroom with meatless chicken, meatless General Tso's chicken, and vegetarian chow mein.
Everything was good, but we both thought not as good as Jasmine.
Delivery was very prompt, and the cost was a little less than Jasmine.
We'll order from Shiso again, but it has not supplanted Jasmine as our mainstay.
The best General Tso's meatless chicken was from Royal Kitchen, the restaurant that preceded Jasmine in the same space.

Don't bother with Jasmine's Kung Pao Tofu. It is one of the grossest meals I've ever had. Bleh! I think I even spotted a hunk of meat in it. Not that I could really identify anything -- it was all gray and greasy.

The same thing happened to me. They forgot to bring the rice, which is a pretty necessary item. They told me they'd send it out with the driver again, but it didn't arrive until two more calls and nearly an hour later. Each time I called, they said the driver had left or was about to leave. I won't ever order from them again. A mistake is one thing, but lying about delivering it later, while my dinner gets and cold and my stomach gets angrier, is pretty rotten.

little nepal on cortland delivers, and I love their food. We dig Angkor Borei as well. Used to love Zante indian pizza, but the last couple times it seemed a little... off, or something.

i got zante's pizza - a very plain one - cheese, green pepper, and sausage. the crust was uninteresting. not much meat or peppers. boring is the best i could say for it. oh, and the delivery guy was really rude. i tipped him anyway. but i won't order from them again. they said 40 minutes and it was over an hour.

Little Nepal is great and we've never had a problem with the delivery there.

        little nepal:
        ph: 643-3881

tried it for lunch but they serve dinner only; will try again and report back.it

i did try pizza express but was unimpressed. i had sausage and bell peppers. crust was boring, sauce bleh, sausage tasted like it had gone bad as well as peppers. gawd, it's enough to make you go corporate!

fried eggplant: tasted like it was stuffed with crab. very yummy. the tempura got soggy in the sweaty styrofoam but it was still tasty.

gyoza: great steamed dumplings with pork and veggies.

edamame: don't know they forgot it.

beef with asparagus: not great but edible. would not order again.

            overall: i give it a 6 out of 10.

            delivery was prompt and courteous.
