After seeing pictures of the illegal soapbox derby online, I was motivated to build one out of a kid's peddlecar I found on CL. I'm putting the finishing touches on the braking system so I'm ready to race.
My only problem is that I don't know when this event is supposed to occur.
Q: Do people gather on JUST Mother's Day and Halloween Sunday or is it every 3 sundays starting on Mother's day?
I found two references to the actual time:
From 2004: Every 3 Sundays from MD to Halloween

From 2005: Says it is now just those two days

I'm testing my vehicle at home in North Beach so I'm ready and willing to race this summer!

Thu, July 6, 2006 - 8:14 PMused to be every three sundays, but has petered out over the past several years. last year, no one showed up for most, so i believe it has been reduced to open and close days - mother's day and halloween. maybe you all could get it back up and going again.
