Noticed there were a ton of cops hanging out in Bernal last night. Some friends saw a few guys getting searched in the (un)safeway around 7pm, then there were cops cruising all over that side of the hill for the rest of the evening and one was parked in front of my place on prospect and coso for hours, just hanging out and watching for - something. Anyone know what's up?

Re: Police Action Last Night?
Wed, November 22, 2006 - 12:32 PMHi neighbor!
I live on Elsie (near Esmerelda), and we had *6* cop cars on our little street last night. Plus there were officiers at the top of Hill (where Coso and Stoneman collide). There was also lots of police activity in the Folsom/Cesear Chavez area as well.
They were pretty tight-lipped, but if you're a fan of the Cap'n's police e-mails, you know there has been a spate of break-ins on Elsie, Winfield, etc. I'm guessing more of the same, but this time they were actively looking for a suspect.
There wasn't any ambulances, so thankfully no one was hurt (or worse). -

Re: Police Action Last Night?
Wed, November 22, 2006 - 1:26 PMPolice Captain Paul Chignell (of the Ingleside Station, which covers Bernal) sends out a daily e-mail summary of police activity. In addition to knowing what's going on, there's always some funny or weird tidbit ("drunken patron ejected....", "naked man seen....")
To get on the Cap'n's e-mail list, write to: Paul_Chignell@ci.s.f.ca.us -

In his latest dispatch, the Cap'n did mention they've been doing undercover drug busts in the Safeway parking lot.
So if that's where you score....
