I went for a little jog yesterday to my beloved Holly Park. I discovered that 9 little trees were choped down. The little ones at the play field on the top. I wonder what was the reason. I am sure it was something about some deasese as I know authorities. I never notice any notice to public about cutting them down. I love trees much. It is hard for me to live in the city for the lack of trees on the streets. I specially love my Holly Park. It is my little HOLY land in the city. I am sad.

Sat, July 14, 2007 - 11:17 PMi felt so sad about this as well! i did see the other week that those trees were marked to be cut down. they had signs on their north sides. but it didn't feel right to me at all! i felt so sad and have not been back since. trees are holy to me too. i hug trees a lot. and they have been my lifelong friends.

There is an extensive reforestation plan being worked on for Holly Park The trees that were removed were olive trees that were planted there when Willie Brown wanted them out of Civic Center Plaza. Some took and some did not. If you look at the trunk that is remaining you can see how they were rotting away. There is one dead tree that will remain because it is now home to a woodpecker and some baby birds.
