Mullen Ave Speedway?!?!

Lots of people have been speeding around the blind corner on Mullen near Peralta Point.. We have nearly been hit head-on several times by people yakking on their cell phones and speeding. There are a lot of kids, and dogs that cross in the area by the blind spot and this morning, a beautiful and quite large O'Possom was struck and killed by a car at the pathway to Peralta Point. So, as my neighbors, and friends... slow down! Would anyone be interested in starting a petition to either put in speed humps or one of those mirror thingys? Much obliged...

I agree and not just because I'm you husband. I love opossums and was heart broken to find one killed by a reckless driver. The next victim could be one of our children. Not to sound like my father ("those damn punks drive their cars to fast! In my day....fill in the blanks) but we all have pets up here and there is a dog park on our corner. Dogs are always running around without their leashes. Yes, you should leash your dog on city streets on your way to the dog part, but speeding cars are a danger to all of us. I love driving fast but simply don't do it in places where people and critters can get injured. Thanks Jennifer!

I agree and not because I'm your husband or your wife. I don't even know you folks. One of the arguments against the paving of the streets such as Franconia a few years ago was that it would encourage speeding. Potholes are a great speeding deterrent.

Speed bumps might be the only answer left given the current state of affairs. I'm not sure that stop signs would be practical or caution signs would work. Sometimes a caution sign with an odd speed limit works, such as an yellow sign with a curved arrow and a speed limit of 17mph.

I agree, and I'm not related to you either. As a dog/kid parent, I'd like to see traffic calming on Mullen -- speed bumps, better signage, whatever it takes. Over the weekend I was talking with another family on the block concerned about the same issue.
