ate there about 6 weeks ago, it was absolutely delicious and i was SO looking forward to having my leftovers for lunch the next day, and just as we were about to get up and walk out, a ROACH RAN ACROSS OUR TABLE!!! eeeeeeeew. i don't recommend sitting at the table under the huge ceiling vent, if you go.

Roaches are an "occupational hazard" of the restaurant industry. They're everywhere, even at the highest priced and highest rated places. Believe me; I was once in the restaurant business. All you can do is control them.

Now, there are a bunch of standards restaurants must pass in regard to how food is stored, etc., but some places will still have roaches, especially if they're located in or next to an older residential building.

I struggle with lots of the ceviche palaces and such that have sprung up since fresca in west portal and limon showed that the peruvian scene could be a vibrant new view on latin food. It seems like it was only yesterday that the only peru place was the chinese peruvian at mission and geneva, which Like the Cuban Chinese places all over new york reflect diversity that we sometimes forget in Latin food.

The following is a list of Peruvian in SF....lets take into account that I am not all that hot on the frescas in noe or filmore, still love the west portal, very very unimpressed with limon...but they are beter than Mi Lindo Peru, I havent been there in say two years, but I did try it three times in that period and found it on the one hand 'homey' I didnt find the flavors all that bright. Destinos is pretty darn ok, ahh and I dont know how to spell zcervhe or what ever it is out on mission near ummm persia?next to sorrento's deli... which while like all of these places have flashes of good just dont have a great cover to cover menu. That being said I have not been to www.mochicasf.com/MochicaIn...ntent.html but people say it is very good, if not the best....

Yes, it is good. family sort of friendly. HUGE portions. Death by beef or seafood -- take your pick.

Another good one is Oye Minagua on Mission across the street from Safeway. Get the whole fried fish. Awesome. Cheesy live music on weekends. Cheap, fun, local.
