        DESCRIPTION:
June's Soap Box Lecture by Sheila Ghidini is titled: "Bernal By Heart: A Walking Map of Bernal Heights"

"Lines of desire" is a term used by architects and landscape architects to name the well traveled paths made through the landscape by animals and people. Bernal Heights is home to a multitude of these kinds of paths. In her lecture, Ghidini will enlighten us about these pathways.

Sheila Ghidini was born in Connecticut and received her M.F.A. in sculpture at the University of California, Berkeley. She was an artist-in residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts and the American Academy in Rome and has received grants from the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation, the Krasner-Pollack Foundation, the San Francisco Arts Commission, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

Ghidini has taught art since 1974 and most recently at the University of California, Berkeley, California College of Arts, San Francisco State University and University of California Extension.

She lives and works in Bernal Heights.

After the lecture, refreshments will be served up the street at 301 Bocana Gallery (@ Cortland Ave.)
