I'm going to be a new graduate student at the UCSF Mission Bay campus. I was in the city this past weekend and found a nice little flat on Macedonia St. I was wondering if this area of Bernal, plus the area between Macedonia and the hospital, is fairly safe? I need to be able to walk from there to the General Hospital so I can catch the shuttle to campus, many times it will be in the evenings. I'm a small town guy from Davis so I'd rather not worry about being harrassed as I'm trying to get to and from school!! Thanks for your help!

  • Yes-- Bernal's a pretty safe area.

The Mission part of your walk is not quite as safe as the Bernal part, but you should be fine.

If you are from Davis, you probably have a bike. You can rent a bike locker at the General, and ride between Bernal and the General.
